Most people choose one kind of holiday: beach, mountain, or island. Glamping in Lombok asks why you’d pick just one.
One island. Three completely different landscapes. A luxury safari tent in each one.
You might be wondering whether glamping in Lombok is actually comfortable. It’s a fair question. The answer: real queen beds with premium linens, a private ensuite bathroom with a hot shower, a wooden deck with views that most five-star hotels would charge triple for, and breakfast served every morning. This is not basic camping. It is not a hotel. It sits exactly in between — and for a destination like Lombok, that sweet spot makes complete sense.
This guide covers everything you need to know about glamping in Lombok: the three locations, what each one looks like, who each suits, what’s included, how to book, and how to choose between them.

What Is Glamping? (And Why Lombok Is the Right Place for It)
Glamping — short for “glamorous camping” — is accommodation that puts you inside a landscape without asking you to sacrifice comfort to be there. Real bed. Hot shower. A deck. Nature directly outside.
Where a hotel puts a wall between you and the destination, glamping puts you in it. Where camping puts you on the ground in a sleeping bag, glamping gives you a queen bed and a private bathroom. The result is a style of staying somewhere that makes the location the main feature — not just the backdrop.
Lombok is one of the few destinations in the world where this approach makes complete sense — not as a novelty, but as the most logical way to experience what the island actually offers.
Why? Because the landscapes here demand to be experienced from the inside. Rice terraces that step down a mountainside at 600 metres, with a volcano on the horizon. A near-uninhabited island off the east coast where the coral is untouched and the water runs from pale turquoise to deep cobalt. A south coast bay so perfectly curved it looks like a drawing.
These are not views that are improved by a hotel lobby window. Glamping in Lombok puts you inside each one — and that changes the experience entirely.
Indonesia has positioned Lombok as a priority destination for sustainable tourism — and low-impact, community-integrated glamping sits directly within that vision.
Our Three Glamping Locations in Lombok
Lombok Glamping currently operates three locations across the island. Each delivers a fundamentally different experience of Lombok. More locations are in development as we expand across the island — but these three cover the essential landscapes.
| Location | Setting | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| TeteBatu | Rice terraces, 600m elevation, Mount Rinjani views | Mountain lovers, Rinjani base, culture, waterfalls |
| Gili Kondo | Private island, East Lombok, coral reef | Honeymoons, total privacy, snorkelling |
| Selong Belanak | Crescent beach, South Lombok | Beach, surfing, sunsets, coastal exploration |
The tent specification is the same at every location: queen bed, private ensuite with hot shower,, daily breakfast, and fast WiFi. The landscapes are completely different.
TeteBatu Glamping — Wake Up in the Rice Terraces
At 600 metres above sea level, in the middle of Central Lombok’s rice terraces, TeteBatu is the kind of place that rewires what you think a holiday can be.
What TeteBatu Looks and Feels Like
The tent sits on a raised wooden deck above the rice paddies. Below, terraced fields step down through varying shades of green — bright lime in the growing season, amber gold at harvest. Ahead, through morning mist, is Mount Rinjani. At 3,726 metres, it is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia, and from TeteBatu it fills the entire northern horizon.
At night the jungle sounds are constant. At 2am, mist rolls through the paddies. At dawn, the mountain reappears above the cloud line.
This is not a view you get from a hotel.
What to Do from TeteBatu
The location is not just something to look at. TeteBatu sits at the base of Rinjani’s southern flank, which puts guests within easy reach of:
- Rice field walking trails — guided 2-hour walks through working fields and Sasak farming villages
- Black monkey trek — Lombok’s endemic black monkeys inhabit the jungle directly above the terraces
- Waterfall day trips — Tiu Kelep and Benang Stokel are within 45 minutes and among the most impressive waterfalls in eastern Indonesia
- Rinjani trekking — the Sembalun and Senaru trailheads are approximately 2.5 hours by road; TeteBatu is an ideal base the night before (or after) a summit attempt
- Coffee plantation visits — organic Arabica grown in the hills above TeteBatu; guided farm visits available
For the full list of activities available from this base, see our adventures and activities page.
Getting to TeteBatu
From Lombok International Airport (LOP), TeteBatu is approximately 1.5 hours east via the Narmada road. The road is good all the way. Transfers are arranged for all guests — details confirmed at booking.
Who TeteBatu Glamping Is Best For
TeteBatu suits travellers who want the mountain side of Lombok, not just the beach. Couples seeking genuine seclusion and a different pace. Anyone planning a Rinjani trek who wants the journey to feel like part of the experience. And anyone who looks at a terraced rice field and feels the pull to be in it.
Gili Kondo Glamping — Your Own Private Island

East Lombok is the part of the island most visitors never reach. That is precisely why Gili Kondo remains one of the most pristine places in Indonesia. And glamping in Lombok does not get more private than this.
What Gili Kondo Looks and Feels Like
Gili Kondo is a small island off Lombok’s east coast — largely uninhabited, surrounded by coral reef, with white sand and water that runs from pale turquoise at the shore to deep blue offshore. Sea turtles are a regular presence in the water directly in front of the tents.
There are no shops on the island. No restaurants outside your glamping meals. No nightlife. No noise beyond the water and the wind.
We operate a maximum of four tents on Gili Kondo. This is not an oversight — it is the point. Four tents means you will never share the shore with strangers. Book all four and the island is yours entirely.
Snorkelling at Gili Kondo
The snorkelling at Gili Kondo is exceptional. The coral is largely untouched due to the island’s low visitor numbers, and sea turtles are spotted on almost every session. Visibility typically runs 15–20 metres during the dry season.
Snorkel equipment and guided reef tours are available through our adventures and activities programme.
Getting to Gili Kondo
Gili Kondo requires a commitment to reach — and that commitment is part of what keeps it pristine.
From Mataram: approximately 2.5 hours east by road to Tanjung Luar port, then a 10-minute boat crossing. From Lombok Airport, allow 2–3 hours total.
We coordinate all boat transfers for guests. Do not try to arrange the crossing independently on your first visit.
Seasonal note: April to October offers the most reliable crossing conditions and clearest snorkelling water. November to March seas can be variable.
Who Gili Kondo Glamping Is Best For
This is the honeymoon location. The anniversary location. The place you go when you want to be completely and genuinely alone together. Glamping in Lombok at Gili Kondo is for travellers who want to say — honestly — that they had their own island.
For full island buyouts, bespoke occasion setups, or group privates, see our private luxury glamping experiences.
Selong Belanak Glamping — Sunsets on the South Coast

Selong Belanak is one of Lombok’s most beautiful beaches. A sweeping crescent bay on the south coast, long consistent surf, soft sand, and hills framing either end. Glamping in Lombok at this location means waking up to that view every morning and watching the sun go down from your own deck every evening.
What Selong Belanak Looks and Feels Like
The tents face the beach directly. Your wooden deck looks across the bay. On a clear morning, the eastern hills catch the first light while the water is still flat and glassy. By afternoon, the surf lines are moving through. By evening, the sky goes orange then deep red then blue, and it reflects across the water in a way that earns every cliché about Indonesian sunsets.
Fresh seafood is a feature at this location — local fishing boats land their catch nearby, and dinners at Selong Belanak are built around whatever came in that day.
Surfing at Selong Belanak
Selong Belanak has one of the best beginner-friendly surf breaks in Lombok. Long, consistent right-handers peel across the bay with enough push to be fun and enough forgiveness to learn on. The water is warm year-round and the crowd is a fraction of what you’d find at Kuta’s busier breaks further east.
Surf lessons and board hire are available through our adventures and activities programme. No experience required.
Exploring from Selong Belanak
The south coast position also puts you within easy reach of:
- Mawun Beach — 25 minutes west, a horseshoe bay with almost no development
- Kuta Lombok — 20 minutes east, the main hub for restaurants, shops, and additional surf breaks
- Tanjung Aan — 30 minutes east, a distinctive double bay with pale peppercorn-textured sand
Getting to Selong Belanak
From Lombok Airport: approximately 45 minutes south via Praya on a well-maintained road. Selong Belanak is the most accessible of the three glamping locations.
Who Selong Belanak Glamping Is Best For
Beach people, first and foremost. Surfers, or those who want to learn. Travellers combining a south Lombok road trip with a memorable base. Couples who measure a great holiday in sunsets.

How to Choose the Right Glamping Location in Lombok
The question we get asked most: “Which location should I book?”
The honest answer comes down to one question: what do you want to wake up to?
Choose TeteBatu glamping if:
– You want a volcano on the horizon when you open the tent
– Culture, rice fields, and waterfalls matter as much as the accommodation
– You are planning a Rinjani trek and want a remarkable first or last night
– Cool nights, jungle sounds, and elevation are what you came for
Choose Gili Kondo glamping if:
– Privacy is non-negotiable
– It is a honeymoon, anniversary, or occasion that deserves something extraordinary
– You want sea turtles in snorkelling distance from your tent
– “We had our own island” is a sentence you want to be able to say truthfully
Choose Selong Belanak glamping if:
– The beach is the priority, full stop
– You surf or want to learn
– Sunsets and fresh seafood is your version of a perfect evening
– You want a base for south coast exploration
Choose all three if you have six nights. Two nights at each location — TeteBatu, Gili Kondo, Selong Belanak — is the most complete way to understand what Lombok is. Mountain, island, beach. Done properly, in that order or any order, it is one of the best itineraries in Southeast Asia.
What Is Included at Every Lombok Glamping Location
Every tent, at every location, includes:
- Bed: Queen bed with premium linens
- Bathroom: Private ensuite bathroom with hot shower
- Outdoor space: Private wooden deck with the location view
- Meals: Complimentary breakfast daily; fresh seafood available at coastal locations
- Connectivity: Fast WiFi at all three sites
- Furnishings: Locally crafted wooden furniture, natural textiles, Sasak-inspired details
What is not included — and we think transparency here matters:
– Airport transfers (arrangeable — confirm at booking)
– Lunch and dinner at TeteBatu (local warungs are minutes away)
– Guided activities beyond standard access: Rinjani guiding, snorkel gear, surf lessons — all bookable as add-ons via our adventures and activities page
Every stay supports the local communities we work within. The team at each location are from the Sasak villages nearby. The coffee at your TeteBatu breakfast comes from the plantation above the terraces. The seafood at Selong Belanak comes off the boats you can see from your deck.

FAQ — Glamping in Lombok
Is glamping in Lombok actually comfortable?
Yes — with a clear picture of what that means. Every tent has a real queen bed with premium linens, a private ensuite bathroom with a hot shower, and a wooden deck. There is no air conditioning (it is not needed at TeteBatu’s elevation or at the coastal locations in the sea breeze), no minibar, and no room service. What you get instead is waking up inside one of Lombok’s most remarkable landscapes. For travellers who came to experience Lombok — not to be insulated from it — glamping in Lombok is more comfortable than a hotel in the ways that actually matter.
What is the difference between the three glamping locations in Lombok?
TeteBatu is mountain and rice terraces at 600m elevation with Rinjani views. Gili Kondo is a near-private island off East Lombok with exceptional snorkelling and a maximum of four tents. Selong Belanak is a south coast crescent beach with beginner surf, fresh seafood, and exceptional sunsets. The tent quality is identical across all three. The landscapes are completely different.
Is glamping in Lombok suitable for a honeymoon?
Gili Kondo is one of the most genuinely romantic places to stay in Indonesia. Maximum four tents, your own beach, sea turtles, complete seclusion. A full island buyout is available for total privacy. See our private luxury glamping page for special occasion arrangements.
How much does glamping in Lombok cost?
Current rates are listed at lombokglamping.com/booking. Prices include breakfast, private ensuite facilities, and WiFi. Activities are bookable as add-ons.
What is the best time of year for glamping in Lombok?
April to October — Lombok’s dry season — is the best window for all three locations. Lombok’s climate data shows July and August as peak dry season months with the most reliable conditions. November to March is the wet season: TeteBatu and Selong Belanak remain excellent, but Gili Kondo boat crossings and snorkelling conditions are significantly better in dry season.
Can I stay at more than one location in one trip?
Yes — and it is the best way to do it. A six-night stay across all three locations (two nights each) is the most complete Lombok experience available. Contact us via the booking page to arrange a multi-location itinerary.
Conclusion
Mountain, island, beach. One island. Three landscapes. One style of accommodation that does each of them properly.
Glamping in Lombok is not a compromise between adventure and comfort. It is where they stop being different things. The tent is genuinely comfortable — the deck, the bed, the hot shower, the breakfast. The landscape is extraordinary. Those two facts are not in tension at TeteBatu, Gili Kondo, or Selong Belanak. They are the point.
More locations are coming. Lombok Glamping is expanding across the island, and new sites will be announced as they open. If you want early access, the booking page is the right place to start.
